The club was formed in 1985 by several New London area residents with a passion for 1955, 1956, and 1957 Chevrolets. They organized a local car show that started out small and has grown to over 300 cars. As the interest in the club increased the requirement of '55, '56, or '57 Chevy ownership evolved into an interest in any and all Chevrolets.
Monthly meetings are typically held on Sunday afternoons at various locations to discuss future business and organize upcoming events. After the meeting there is plenty of time for members to engage in discussions about thier latest projects. Occasional Saturday meetings incorporate a cruise to allow members to enjoy their cars. An annual Poker Run is organized on Labor Day weekend and a Halloween cruise when the weather permits. A Christmas party is enjoyed by all in January to share some holiday cheer and start thinking about the upcoming summer activities.
The annual car show is the largest event of the year. It's held in New London's beautiful Hatten Park. The show is co-sponsored by the New London Lion's Club who handle all the food and refreshments. The club also assists with the Wheels on Water Street Car Show that is part of New London's Fall Festival organized by the Chamber of Commerce.
Profits from the car shows are used to support local groups in need. Some of the organizations that have been helped in the past include the New London Food Pantry, Project Backpack, Beat the Heat Racing Club, and Relay for Life.
